For people wishing to address a specific behaviour issue, one on one training is the best way to go. This training is usually done in the environment that the dog is actually having the problem, such as; the client’s home, a public park, on the walk, etc. If the dog is dog reactive we usually recommend working in an area where we can see the dog’s behaviour escalate, such as; in a public park or outside of a dog park. By addressing the behaviour head-on in the environment where it frequently occurs we are better able to create a strategy to resolve it and in the long-term eliminate it.
During a behavioural consultation Nicole will work to show you why your dog has developed the behaviour issue and what you may be doing that is either contributing to it, or what you have failed to do to prevent it. Her goal is to give you the tools to become a dog behaviour expert yourself so you can effectively manage your dog’s behaviour, learning the warning signs to watch for, and techniques to immediately address the behaviour as it happens.
At The Pack Way we give you real results right away but don’t take short cuts. We have learned after many years of successfully rehabilitating behaviour issues in dogs there are no short cuts you can take, the best strategy is one that gets to the root of the behaviour issue itself, putting down a firm training foundation, so there is no quick fix that later falls apart. Nicole has found that the ideal timeframe for a consultation is one hour, this is the period that the information resonates with the client the most. In some cases the issue can be resolved within a few lessons provided the client continues their homework. If the dog is reactive or aggressive towards other dogs this may require more follow-up, and you may be offered a discount training package if your dog requires more training then normal.
